The ART
SHOP!
art classes for children
ages two and three.

The Art Shop
Artists ages 2 and 3 will join teachers Julie Averill and Marci Stringham in art processes with a diverse selection of tools and materials. Many different ways to paint, sculpt, collage, print, and draw will be introduced. Children will develop an art vocabulary, practice decision-making skills, and develop self-esteem through the creation of process-oriented art-themed projects. Children will enjoy the “mess is best” atmosphere in the class, and will use tools and materials found in the environment to create and experiment with.

Our classes
are limited to 10 children and their caregivers.
Classes feature creative lesson plans tailored to the
capacities of the group, and always involve a period of free
play art and choices. Children will participate in small
science experiments to discover concepts such as velocity,
solids and liquids, or other sensory exploration.
Our Art
Shop projects always involve safe, washable materials
appropriate for early childhood as well as simple materials
found in your home. Children will collaborate on group
murals as well as individual projects. Classes are designed
for children to develop a sense of curiosity and wonder, and
to enhance their appreciation for art. Art Shop projects
inspire creativity and critical thinking skills.

Please note that grown-up participation in the
art shop is essential! We require all children to be
accompanied by an adult. Infant siblings are welcome in
strollers, carseats, bjorns, or sling carriers. Art Shop
materials and activities are not designed for toddlers under
two years old. |
